Sixty-three-year-old Medhin returned from Sudan in May 2018. She left Ethiopia Forty-two years ago due to the effects of civil war on her village in Humera, Tigray.  Twenty-years-ago she returned to Ethiopia but was forced to leave due to her rest of the family’s displacement and indifferent response from the community. Now with support from IOM, Medhin has again returned to Ethiopia. Upon her arrival in Humera, she got very ill and needed medical attention. She was taken back to Addis Ababa and was admitted at Good Samaritan Shelter where she received medical treatment for more than a month. After completing her medical treatment, she returned to Humera and started making tea and coffee from her rented house – to sell – in order to cover her daily expenses. She makes 10-20 ETB (0.54 USD) per day. With further assistance from IOM, she has expanded her business to include a flavored ice cube and soft drink house.
